Are You a Model or a Fraud?

  • Ghetto Fashion Shows where you have to sell tickets - ‘They said Puffy and dem gonna be there. $30 girl’
  • Hyping a magazine you are in and no one has heard of it - ‘Girl I’m in Gold Bling Murder Tatoo magazine. I’m gonna quit my job next week’
  • Under 5’7” and still think you can do runway in Paris - ‘A website says I should come over I could make millions’
  • Still shooting and have no work - ‘I have 120 tight azz pics you got a few dollars I can borrow’’
  • Doing fashion shows at a club starting at 3am - ‘I am going to get there at 2:30 that’s when the people get there’
  • Paying to be in a calendar - ‘It cost me $75 to get in. I am so lucky’
  • Finding sponsors for someone else’s calendar - ’If you buy an ad I can be in the calendar’
  • Flying or driving long distances to walk runway. ‘I flew to Chicago, NY and Atlanta and I got in a mag’
  • Over 300 members on MySpace or FaceBook and not trying to sell anything - ’I have 5000 members what can I do with these people. Oh send them a pic of my last shoot’
  • Thinking just because you have classes, a job and pursuing modeling you are so much busier than anyone else on the planet. – ‘My friend has 3 kids, a job, married and volunteers but if she was a model she would really be busy’
  • Ego over Entrepreneurism - ‘I know I look better than her and she is selling that poster’
  • Talking over and over about how an agency isn’t doing anything for you – ‘I have non exclusives for 6 agencies they never do anything for me’
  • Thinking MySpace is a website‘Oh you can go to my website at MySpace. It loads slow and ya have to sign in’
  • Spending hours texting, chatting or blogging‘I know I should be working my website but Kenney said dat ain’t Amy’s real hair. Ya heard’
  • Bad Boyfriend - ‘I wanted to go to the shoot but my boyfriend said he didn’t like my pictures. He wants me to stop modeling for some reason. He might be jealous.’
  • Comparing themselves not to ‘Top Models’ but cousin Boo Boo with six kids  - ‘She got a bad body I look better than her Ya feel me’
  • Mad cause someone got breast implants – ‘She cute and has a nice body that’s’ why she got that job. Plus her implants.’

I really do not think any model is a fraud, but they do have to understand the business and market they are in. Unfortunately there is little training provided for modeling so many models learn on the fly.

The New Era of Models
It’s a new era and models for the first time can market themselves in ways they could only dream about years ago. They can actually earn income using the god given tools that were provided to them from original conception. Models need to think of themselves as entrepreneurs rather than a model waiting for a phone call from a casting agency.

So take the next step build yourself as a brand just like Walmart, Coke, Tyra and Oprah. Market yourself your name etc….. Start thinking out of the box about revenue opportunities for yourself. Understand how important and integral your fans are. Ten years from now you might not be in modeling biz but those fans will love ya for the rest of your life. You can sell them anything real estate, cosmetics, clothes, art or whatever industry you land in.

Internet Marketing For Music Artist, Models, Entertainers and Photographers’
My book ‘Internet Marketing For Music Artist, Models, Entertainers and Photographers’ http://www.musicandmodelmarketing.com/ will be released in a few weeks. The book tells you everything from A to Z about easily marketing yourself online. I strongly feel anyone who is a model needs to pick up this book. It is the bible on Internet Marketing for the entertainment industry.
